The right skincare routine for your skin

We often get asked what skincare routine we recommend and how to make the best use of our products. So in this post, we thought we would share some useful tips and guide you through which products are right for your skin.

We are firm believers that using natural skincare and ditching chemicals often found in a lot of skincare products, can drastically improve your skin. That being said, it is also crucial to listen to what your skin is trying to tell you and slightly adapt your skincare routine throughout the days, weeks and months. Depending on the time of the month, the time of the year, how much stress you’re under, what you have been eating, how much sleep you have been getting or how much traveling you’ve been doing, your skin will react by being particularly dry, oil, irritated, dull or patchy. And you will have to adapt your skincare accordingly.

As a general guideline though, we recommend following 4 steps in your skincare routine

  1. CLEANSER

Honey Cleansing Balm

  1. Take 5p size amount of cleansing balm and gently massage in circular motion over face, eyes and neck.
  2. Rinse off using cloth and warm water. Repeat if double cleansing is needed to remove all traces of makeup.

  1. MASK

We recommend using masks about once or twice a week. However if your skin is particularly oily or blemish prone, you can increase that to three times a week. If your periods or a stressful week seem to make you break out, you can also temporarily increase to using a mask 3 times a week and go back to once or twice once it seems to have calmed down.

Rose Clay Mask

If your skin is particularly oily or blemish prone, we would recommend using our Rose Clay Mask which is made with a purifying and exfoliating blend of Pink Clay, Rose Petal Powder, Strawberry Fruit Powder and Geranium Oil to deeply detox and balance your skin.

White Coco Mask

If your skin tends be quite dry and sensitive, you can either skip the mask altogether, or use our White Coco Mask which is made with a soothing and purifying blend of white Kaolin Clay, Coconut milk powder and Jasmine Oil.

 

  1. TONER

Now when it comes to toners, we like to keep it very simple. Many toners out there are made mostly of alcohol and other potentially irritating and drying chemical ingredients. We find that the skin does better with a gentle floral water from which there are four to choose from depending on your skin type (again you can have more than one type of floral water and change depending on how your skin is feeling on the day):

Chamomile – Perfect for irritated and inflamed skin

Rose - Perfect for more mature and dehydrated skin

Lavender – Perfect for combination skin that needs a little TLC but also a little purifying

Tea Tree- Perfect for oily and blemish prone skin that needs deep purifying

 

  1. SERUM

For the final step, we recommend using an oil based Serum. Even if your skin is particularly oily, that doesn’t mean that you should stay away from adding botanical oils to your daily skincare routine. If anything, it should be the opposite as certain oils help balance sebum production, tone down inflammation and repair the skin.

Daily steps to apply your Serum:

Botanical Collagen- Perfect for mature & dehydrated skin

Made with a blend of Rosehip, Pomegranate and Primrose Oil as well as Jasmine Oil, Frankincense and with 2% anti-ageing botanical complex, our Collagen Serum is proven to help improve the firmness and elasticity of the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and lift the contour of your face. As skin slowly stops producing collagen from the age of 25, it’s important to add this Serum as part of your routine at least a couple of days a week.

Fruit Enzyme Serum- Perfect for dull & dry skin

Enriched with 10% Fruit Enzymes and Plum Kernel Oil, this Serum is packed with AHA’s, vitamins, anti-oxidants, and essential fatty-acids to help you achieve a refreshed and smooth complexion.

Omega-3 Intense Repair Serum- Perfect for oily & sensitive/ irritated skin

Made with Inca Inchi Seed, Pomegranate and Primrose Oil as well as Vitamin E, this Repair Serum is perfect to help bring balance to your skin, tone down inflammation and increase skin cell turnover. When used every day, it will help your skin repair itself faster and is therefore perfect for blemish prone skin.

It’s important to note that there are so many combinations possible and you want to be flexible and listen to what your skin needs at the time you’re doing your routine. Our skin is ever changing and the best thing you can do to look after it, is to listen to what it is telling you. Consistency is important in that you always want to give your skin a deep cleanse at the end of each day and give it the nutrients it needs to stay balanced and repair itself, but that doesn’t mean that you need to stick with the exact same products day after day, week after week or month after month.
